Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals (DC), Sourav Ganguly, has praised Rishabh Pant for his perseverance in making a comeback to action after a terrifying vehicle accident. The 26-year-old’s cricket career was in danger of ending abruptly due to near-fatal injuries. Under the careful supervision of the medical team at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, he recovered more quickly than anticipated.

Pant returns to guide DC as the team looks to win its first Indian Premier League (IPL) championship, having missed the whole previous campaign. Surprising everyone with his amazing recuperation, Ganguly emphasized how far Pant has gone after his protracted injury layoff and said that his return is a positive omen for both the Indian cricket team and his home side, the Ranji.

“I was not expecting the progress he has made. He has seen a great deal of emotional growth, so hopefully this is a nice season for him. Experiencing an injury of that kind is never easy. He is a particular talent and player, therefore, it would be amazing to have him back for the Delhi Capitals, the Delhi Ranji squad, and India as a whole, as the former India captain was cited by PTI as saying.

Ganguly went on to say that Pant is not a cautious hitter and that he expects his captain to possess the same traits.

Since he is not a cautious hitter, you should anticipate such qualities in his leadership. No one shows up as a fully formed captain. Being a captain is something you learn on the fly, in my opinion. Sourav Ganguly said, “I’m excited to see him throughout the competition.

For the 2024 Indian Premier League, Rishabh Pant underwent a rigorous recovery plan. At first, there was concern that the captain of DC would not play all season, much less be well enough to bat and take wickets. The flashy left-hander will be keen to make up for lost time by helping DC have a good season. He also has his sights set on one of the two wicketkeeping positions in the 15-man Indian team for the June 2024 T20 World Cup.

On Saturday, March 23, the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings will square off at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Mohali.
